The World Federation of Democratic Youth stands in solidarity with Refugees

Declaration by the World Federation of Democratic Youth for the World Refugee Day

June 20th has been declared as the World Refugee Day since 2000, according to the decision of the United Nation General Assembly.

According to the United Nations’ High Commissioner for Refugees’ annual report, 68.5 million people were displaced worldwide by the end of 2017. 16.2 million of them were displaced for the first time. That means that 44,500 people are being displaced each day, or 1 person every two seconds. 53% of them are children, including many who are unaccompanied or separated from their families.

It is an embarrassing and unacceptable account that comes as a result of the imperialist interventions, invasions and wars worldwide.

As WFDY, we know well who is responsible for all the wars, all the refugees and all the misery in the world. It’s the reason of our existence and the reason of our fight : it is imperialism itself who drowns peoples in blood and we shall not rest until we overthrow it.

Together with all the anti-imperialist youth movements and the peace movements, we stand united against imperialism. The unity of the youth worldwide can terminate the evil war plans and at the end, the victory will be ours.
