As world leaders meet in Paris to discuss a new international agreement on climate change, youth around the world are demanding climate justice. A successful result at the COP21 negotiations demands a sharp break with multinational monopoly corporations and a rejection of imperialist and market ‘solutions’ to the climate crisis. The Young Communist League of Canada joins those voices demanding this necessary fundamental change.

The Young Communist League of Canada mourns the lives of all civilians killed in the latest wave of mass shootings and bombings in Paris, Beiruit, Yola, Suruç, and elsewhere. Attacks targeting civilians, whether committed by individuals, sectarian groups or imperialist states are terrible crimes. We must also condemn the government of Canada’s participation in the latest bombing campaigns in Iraq and Syria which have only served to further destabilize these countries.

The Young Communist League of Canada welcomes the defeat of the Harper Conservatives in the federal election, but recognizes the immediate need to intensify the youth and student struggle against the new Liberal version of the big business agenda.

The annual Pride summer season is here, with hundreds of activities in major cities and small towns across the country. The Communist Party of Canada and the Young Communist League of Canada extend warm solidarity to the LGBTIQ community and allies, and urges voters to dump the anti-equality Harper Conservatives in the coming federal election.

We want to express our full solidarity with all the young communists of Chile (organized in the JJCC) and all youth and student activists who are mourning Exequiel Borbarán and Diego Guzmán Farras. These two students (the latter being a member of JJCC) were shot and murdered while taking part in a student mobilization in Valparaíso.

The Young Communist League of Canada – Ligue de la jeunesse communiste du Canada (YCL-LJC) stands in solidarity with Quebec students fighting against austerity. We condemn the threatened politically motivated expulsions of 9 students at the Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM) by administration, as well as the Liberal government’s and the UQAM administration’s use of police repression in an attempt to stifle the student movement.

The Young Communist League of Canada calls for full solidarity with educational workers at the University of Toronto and York University. CUPE 3902’s and CUPE 3903’s educational workers are now on strike at two of Canada’s largest universities, at which almost 140,000 university students study.
